Medicaid Work Requirement Information
Beginning January 1, 2027, some New Yorkers enrolled in Medicaid will need to meet new work, volunteer, or school requirements to maintain their coverage. While people with medical conditions that prevent them from working may be exempt, the process for verifying exemptions could create challenges for people with bleeding disorders.
This fact sheet from Medicaid Matters New York explains what we currently know about the new requirements, who may be affected, and what New Yorkers can expect as the state implements these changes. We encourage our community members who rely on Medicaid to review this information to better understand how these changes could affect their coverage.
