On November 5th, more than one hundred guests enjoyed a festive evening at Bayard’s in Hanover Square for NYCHC’s 2011 Gala. New York State Assembly Member Micah Z. Kellner was presented with the 2011 Award of Distinction in recognition of his service to the community.  In 2010, working closely with the bleeding disorders community, Kellner succeeded in getting the Legislature to pass a bill prohibiting the creation of higher co-pay “specialty tiers” for clotting factor drugs used to treat hemophilia along with other biologic drugs. In 2011, he led the battle to get Child Health Plus and other state program to cover clotting factor used on an outpatient basis. In accepting the award, Assembly Member Kellner pledged to continue the fight until the legislation passes.
