Mental Health Workshop (Presented by NYCHC and Mental Health Matters Too – MHMT)

 In Uncategorized

The New York City Hemophilia Chapter (NYCHC) and Mental Health Matters Too (MHMT) have collaborated to bring Mental Health Awareness to the NYC bleeding disorder community!
As bleeding disorder factor treatments have improved and expanded over the years, we have finally reached a place where mental health can finally take the stage. It has become a topic of intense focus and we as a community recognize the necessity of having that conversation.
Enter Mental Health Matters Too (MHMT). Founded by Debbie de la Riva, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and mother to a son with hemophilia, MHMT was created to increase awareness of mental health issues in the bleeding disorder community and provide information on helpful resources. She has presented to bleeding disorder organizations all over the US.
For our NYC bleeding disorder community, she has partnered with our Programs and Events Manager, Marc Pangilinan who has severe Hemophilia A himself to develop a custom bleeding disorder-related mental health workshop in which she will present on mental health topics in the first hour and co-lead group breakout sessions with Marc afterwards.
