Friday August 3 Deadline for Gettin’ in the Game Junior National Championship
This Friday, August 3 is the last day to apply to be nominated for the Gettin’ in the Game Junior National Championship presented by CSL Behring. The New York City Hemophilia Chapter (NYCHC) has been invited to send two individuals with bleeding disorders between the ages of 7-18 to the event which will take place September 21-23 in Fort Worth, TX. The event will include competitions in baseball and golf and we will be nominating one individual for each of the two competitions. Selected nominees will receive hotel and airfare for themselves and one parent or guardian. Throughout the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to attend educational sessions to learn more about bleeding disorders and the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of golf and baseball, proper stretching techniques, and the importance of safety on and off the field.
To be eligible for nomination by NYCHC, participants must have a bleeding disorder, be between the ages of 7 and 18, and live in the Greater New York City area (i.e. in the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland or within a fifty mile radius of New York City). Interested individuals must fill out an online application form and submit an essay of no more than 500 words on why they are interested in participating. All applications must be submitted by Friday, August 3, 2012.
