CHP Bill Signed by the Governor!
Your efforts paid off! The bill mandating coverage for outpatient clotting factor under the state’s Child Health Plus program (S2186/A0962) has just been signed by Governor Cuomo and is now law.
The bill had passed unanimously in both houses of the legislature earlier this year, but still needed the Governor’s signature. This was a three-year effort involving the participation of many groups and individuals working together across the state, including everyone who visited Albany, met with legislators, called or wrote letters, or advocated in other ways. Congratulations to all.
The legislation does not take effect until April, so eligible families may not want to consider this option yet. We are working with the Department of Health for possible early implementation.
