Honoring Ruth Ann Lapatnick

Ruth Ann Lapatnick, 81, of Marlboro, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Centra-State Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Newark, NJ, she resided in Maplewood before moving to Marlboro.

She was a special education teacher at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Marlboro, NJ and Arthur Brisbane School in Wall, NJ.

Ruth Ann fiercely loved her children and grandchildren. She was one of the first supporters of NYCHC, championing her grandson who has hemophilia, and his family, who started NYCHC. Ruth Ann quickly amassed her neighbors for block party garage sales and started buying/selling plates on ebay as a way to support people with bleeding disorders and their families. She strongly believed that building and strengthening the bleeding disorders community improves health and quality of life.

Ruth Ann is survived by her daughters Faith Jaeger and her husband Gary, and Melissa Penn and her husband Adam Stengel, her grandchildren Jessica Jaeger and her fiancé Parker Yablon, Skyler Jaeger, Michael Jaeger, Zak Stengel, Hope Stengel, Brody Stengel and Shao-Shao Stengel.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her spouse Leonard Lapatnick.

Donations received in Ruth Ann’s honor will support the NYC Hemophilia Chapter’s mission to provide resources and hope to persons with bleeding disorders, their caregivers, and their families.
